These laddus taste and look very similar to the Tirupati laddus, which are offered as prasadam (a sweet blessed religious offering) to devotees and visitors of the Tirumala Venkateswara Temple of Tirupati in India. This is an easy recipe that promises to provide big taste and texture. Everyone will love and enjoy these homemade laddus.
Ingredients
- ½ C almonds
- ½ C raw unsalted cashews
- ½ C edible gum/gond
- ½ C foxnuts or lotus seeds/phool makana
- ½ C raisins
- ½ C coconut powder
- ¼ C Metta Gluten Free Flour
- 2 Tbsp ghee or coconut oil
- 1 C jaggery
- ¼ C water
- ½ tsp cardamom powder
Instructions
- In a heated pan, melt the ghee or coconut oil. Then add all the nuts, edible gum, foxnuts, coconut powder, and raisins. Roast them on medium heat for a while.
- In a blender, crush/pulse the above ingredients. Pulse only 1 or 2 times at most. You don’t want them into a fine powder.
- On the same pan, heat together water and jaggery bringing it to 1 string consistency. Then add the cardamom powder.
- Mix in the dry fruit and coconut mixture along with Metta flour. Allow the mixture to cool.
- Take a small amount of the mixture in your hands and shape it into a small round ball. Press it into a tight ball so it stays intact. If the balls are not remaining intact, add one more tbsp of ghee or coconut oil and mix. Then shape them into small balls. Serve and enjoy!
- For long-term storage, store in an air-tight container.
